Sweet interior fake leather (waterproof!)

 So last weekend i went to a fabric fair and found a 'boat & carriage' shop with fabric. Asked what he would use to reupholster a spitfire and bougt 5m² fabric & mousse

foam! sweet soft foam :-)

Door rubbers, windows, handel, ...

 

After lot's of tweaking i'm happy with the door gaps, window seals, door handle 'click' and both the locks work very smooth!

So your door does not stay in the lock. Lock Mechanism 914695

 So after fixing the door handle some time ago:

I wanted to mount the door latch (lock mechanism 914695)
But the door would not stay in it's lock...

On the passenger side the lock mechanism was working just fine....

So after some work on the Lock itself i found that the Spring was broken:

Grind the little pin on the back of the lock

And on the front of the lock

Then you can open it and see how the lock works.

Now the door has a good lock!

So i guess the paintwork is done for the Spitfire. After 10 Year struggle and learning curve.
It's far from perfect but maybe one day when i win the lottery i will give it to a proffesional painter...
