Paint and rocker shaft check

 

added some paint to the rocker cover. 

After blowing out every hole off the rocker arms i filled the oil gallery with oil

put the air pressure on it and checkt if the oil was flowing 

Inspect every small detail!

Also check for pitting on the contact patch and wiggling to check if the axle is worn in. Looks like this part of the engine is still in great shape...

Hope the rest of the engine will be OK...

added the following number and check if they are straight . And clean them!

Now i have to dismount the gearbox and mount the engine on the workstand.

Prefix "GE": Dit staat specifiek voor een 1296cc motor uit een Triumph Herald 13/60.

Suffix "HE": Dit staat voor High Compression (hoge compressie).

Waarom het geen Spitfire-motor is

Hoewel de motor technisch erg lijkt op die van een Spitfire (de blokken zijn in de basis hetzelfde), gebruikten de verschillende modellen eigen codes:

Spitfire MK IV: Gebruikt meestal de prefix FH (1296cc).

Spitfire 1500: Gebruikt de prefix FM of FP (1493cc).

Spitfire MK III: Gebruikt de prefix FD (1296cc).

Wat betekent dit voor jou?

De Herald 13/60 (GE) motor is mechanisch bijna identiek aan de Spitfire MK IV (FH) motor. Ze hebben dezelfde cilinderinhoud van 1296cc. In het verleden werden deze motoren vaak uitgewisseld omdat de Herald-motoren makkelijker te vinden waren.

Het belangrijkste verschil zit vaak in de randapparatuur (zoals de nokkenas, het spruitstuk of de carburateurs), maar het onderblok zelf is nagenoeg gelijk. Als deze motor in een Spitfire ligt, is hij er later ingebouwd.

Carpet set done! Seats one! Softtop done!

 

First step is to adjust the handbrake cable.

And make sure you can adjust it on a later fase. I fixed the carpet one one place.

Softop rivets, seals done!

Nice and tight fit!

found my old head guards and they still fit!

after shitload off grease, old engine oil and hammering the seat guides are free again :-)

i dismounted the starter engine and after some grease it spins free again :-)
